If you take card payments through BuiltUp
Clients can pay an invoice by card from the portal. That is optional. Plenty of firms invoice and get paid by bank transfer, and nothing here applies to them. When it is used, BuiltUp takes a percentage of the payment, and your plan decides the rate:

This is on top of Stripe's own processing charge, which Stripe bills you directly and BuiltUp does not set or receive. On a large job the fee is the reason to be on a paid plan rather than the Free one: a single £10,000 payment costs £250 on Free and £50 on Pro.
Two different things are free here. This is the difference.
The free plan
No card, ever. No expiry, no trial clock, nothing to cancel. One active project at a time, and three separate lifetime allowances: three AI estimates, three takeoffs and three scope-of-works runs. When you finish a project you can start another. If you never upgrade, nothing happens.
The 30-day trial on Pro and Ultimate
A card is taken at checkout and nothing is charged for 30 days. Cancel before the end from the dashboard. One toggle, and nothing is taken. The subscription stops at the end of the period and the account carries on. It is a decision worth making after your first estimate, not before it.
No contract, no minimum term, no auto-escalator.
Monthly means monthly. Cancel from the dashboard and it stops at the end of the period you have already paid for. The price on this page is the price. There is no minimum seat count, no onboarding fee and no annual uplift clause. If any of that changes it will be in the changelog before it is on your invoice.
What the rest of the category charges.
Not to make a point about value. To save you an afternoon. Most products in this category do not put a number on their website, and the ones that do bury the interesting part. Every figure here was read off the vendor's own pricing page on 6 August 2026 and links back to it, so you can check us. Nothing is converted, nothing is estimated, and no vendor is described as lacking anything.

All figures read from the linked pages on 6 August 2026 and quoted as printed. Some vendors state their prices excluding VAT and some do not say; check the page before you budget from it. Bluebeam's Max tier is marked as an introductory price on its own page. BuildPartner publishes its prices in a section of its homepage rather than on a separate pricing page.
Procore and Buildertrend are listed because the absence is the finding, not because we are guessing at their number. Neither prints one, and we are not going to invent one on their behalf. The last version of this page did, converted into four currencies by the visitor's timezone, and that is exactly the kind of thing an estimator spots.
If one of these has moved, tell us and we will correct it. This block is re-checked quarterly or it comes down.
You don't have to believe us. Check it yourself.
Take the last schedule of works you priced by hand, upload it, and see how close it lands. You already know the answer, which makes it the only test worth running. It costs nothing either way: the free plan needs no card and does not expire.
You will not need to build a rate book first, either. Regional labour benchmarks load in one click and the region comes off your postcode, so the first estimate has real figures behind it before you have typed a rate of your own.
